SAM HILL FINALLY ARRIVES THE QUESTION!MAY 1.
Round 2 of the California State Downhill Championships took place at Mountain Bike Actions’ home track, Southridge Park. Fontana. New sections of the water tower bowl were added to the revised layout. All competitors raced the course together. Two runs were combined.
WHAT’S IN THE SAM HILL?
Race goers got a double treat when they saw three quarters of the course from the spectator hill. Although the answer to the original question is not known, Sam Hill from Australia answered many questions this weekend. He was the two-time Junior DH World Champion Iron Horse/Madcatz rider. He was the only rider who made it to the finals.
Sam was joined by Jarred Rando (Giant-Pearl Izumi), a compatriot, and Bryn Atkinson. Jarred and Bryn, both of whom also ride for the Iron Horse team were second and fourth. David K was the top American rider in third. Although David is the King of Southridge, Sams was the new Intense team rider. Sams time in each of the two runs was two seconds slower than David’s.
ODI SUMMERS
Cal State DH was also part of and kicked off the Southridge Summer Series. The weekend schedule includes cross-country racing, downhill practice Saturday and downhill racing Sunday. As if Saturday wasn’t enough, Saturday also featured the second event in the So Cal Single Speed Championship Series. Scroll down for XC results.
